Heating water by sunlight is an age old process. A solar thermal collector absorbs and transfers
the sun’s rays. The two most commonly used modern technologies are flat plate and evacuated tube collection systems.
A flat plate collector consists of an absorber plate bonded to pipes that contain a heat transfer fluid. Evacuated tube collectors
consist of a set of glass vacuum tubes surrounding an absorber plate. Both types of collectors circulate the heated water
and tie into your current hot water system.
Our design team will work with you to create a solar hot water system that will save you a significant amount of money,
typically 50 to 85% annually on the water heating portion of your utility bill. This simplified diagram of a closed loop system
shows how solar is used for domestic hot water and space heating applications.
